“Climbing a Wall” in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai, Thailand, it is not over-exaggerated to describe it “climbing a wall”, averagely 12-14% in 3 kilometers,1000m climb in only 15 kilometers,
Doi Inthanon is most famous for the last 16 kilometers in Inthanon Mountain, with more than 12% of climbing in the mountains.
XERO’s MACH 33 clincher was their equipments by 4 riders. They have the common feeling after this test: direct energy transfer.
Day 1 - 20 km, elevation 1,135m
This is the easiest day during these 3 days. The driving direction in Thailand is opposite to Taiwan. The main purpose in Day 1 is just to get familiar with environment and prepare for the next day.
Day 2 - DOI Inthanon - 46 km, elevation2,256m
Our teammates say: “ road in Chiang Mai is either 2%, or 14%”, “a 7% is for you to rest…”
In the end only 2 people out of 8 can finish this riding. I guess the number tells how difficult this ride can be.
Day 3 - 22 km, elevation 1,030m
Day 3 slightly easier than Day 2, but it is not easy at all. 12%-14% in 4 km, and a sudden 28% hill that will definitely crush you. When we saw it we were quite nervous because we don’t know how long it will be.
In the end, we still finished this difficult trip.
