Young- #trymach8 in Challenge Taiwan 70.3

Young, a very talented young man, went to Challenge Taiwan Ironman 70.3 and gave his story. “Cycling is my strength and I would take most advantage of this section. Last month in another event I used XERO 50mm front/ 80mm rear wheel system to finish without any problem.

This time I tried 80mm front and rear, thinking that I would speed up to get better record in this section,” said Young. “But, that day, unfortunately the wind was against us. Though it was not strong head wind, this section became very difficult to tackle for all the riders -- the wind. And plus up-hill terrains in Taidung made me so hard that I could only try to focus on keeping my pace.”

Taiwan No. 11 Road was still fascinating: racers under beautiful sun, enjoying some particular geographical wonders like Little Yehliu (aka Xiaoyeliu) Geopark, Jialulan Park, Shan Yuan Beach. “It was in a race, but I was keeping my pace. Doesn’t matter if I got passed, I am faster on climbing.”

”After about an hour, we turned into a route that was just next to the coast. I could even smell the sea. Right after the turning point it was a gentle climb. I used easy gears to tackle this climb to save my legs.”

“Soon, the wind started to change direction, it pushed me and I felt so relieved. But the accumulated climbing has made my quadriceps sore. Even if I was helped my the wind, I chose to save my legs. If I go downhill, I just slided to save more energy because I still had a running session.”

Final result: 2 hours 47 minutes 28 seconds in 90 km cycling section. With XERO 80/80 mm wheels Young got one minute faster than his last event.
