Save Your Hometown, Clean the Mountains

From October 2019, the Executive Yuan of Taiwan has announced the program: "Salute to the Mountains, and this program is now fully open to all the citizens. This new declaration was massively supported by hikers and MTB riders. But recently people leave their garbage after visiting. You may find garbage, food waste and other litter. They will contaminate the earth in the mountains and it will take resources to clean them. According to Taiwan National Park Administrations, the Jade Management Office has to invite volunteers to clean the mountains every year, carrying an average of about 250 kilograms of garbage every trip.

We enter the mountains because we love to get close to Nature. We can relax and enjoy birds singing, fresh air, and look at the green trees, but we are surrounded by unpleasant abandoned beverage bottles, tissue papers, candy wraps, peels, cigarette butts. They lead to strange smells and attract flies. People can't help but sigh: Is this the mountain and forest scenery we want to see?

If it goes on for a longer time, we may eventually lose the original and beautiful ecology and open up the mountains and forests. Are we really ready for those mountain trails to be open for us?
